How to use this holiday list
Most holiday lists online only cover a single year and quietly go stale. This page calculates the moving dates every time you load it, so Thanksgiving is always the fourth Thursday of November, Memorial Day is always the last Monday in May, and Easter is worked out with the standard Gregorian computus rather than pulled from a table. Change the year selector and everything recalculates.
Planning time off: federal holidays are the ones that close banks, government offices and most schools. Observances like Valentine's Day or Halloween are normal working days — useful to know before you promise a client a deadline that week.
Teachers and coaches: use the month grids to map out a term, then pair the schedule with a sensory timer for classroom transitions or a random name picker for holiday-week activities.
Counting down: once you know the date, open the countdown timer for the New Year's Eve countdown or a party game, or check the time zone converter before calling family in another region on a holiday morning. Every tool on the site is listed on the All Tools page.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many federal holidays are there in the United States?+
There are 11 federal holidays: New Year's Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. This page marks each of them as Federal so you can filter to just those.
Why do some holiday dates change every year?+
Some holidays are fixed to a calendar date, like July 4 and December 25. Others are tied to a weekday rule, like the fourth Thursday of November for Thanksgiving or the last Monday of May for Memorial Day. Easter and the dates tied to it move with the lunar calendar. This page recalculates all of them for whichever year you pick.
What happens when a federal holiday falls on a weekend?+
When a federal holiday falls on a Saturday it is usually observed on the preceding Friday, and when it falls on a Sunday it is usually observed on the following Monday. The list shows the actual calendar date of the holiday itself.
Can I see holidays for next year?+
Yes. Use the year selector at the top of the page to switch between the previous year and the next five years. Both the list and the calendar grid update instantly.
Is this holiday calendar free to use?+
Yes. Like every TimerHubs tool it is completely free, needs no account, and runs entirely in your browser.
