What a spinner wheel is actually good for

A wheel is a decision you can hand to the room. When a teacher picks a student by name it can feel personal; when a wheel picks the same student, it is simply the wheel. That small shift is why spinners have quietly taken over classrooms, stand-up meetings, family dinners and twitch streams. Use it for cold-call questions, chore assignments, prize draws, restaurant choices, warm-up exercises, or deciding which task on your list gets the next focus block.

How the randomness works

Each spin picks a slice using your browser's built-in random number generator before the animation starts, then rotates the wheel so that slice lands under the pointer. Nothing is weighted, no slice is favored, and previous spins have no influence on the next one. Because the draw happens on your device, no server ever sees your list — helpful when the options are student names or private projects.

Remove-winner mode

Turn on Remove winner after spin to run a draft, a raffle, or a turn order. Each winner is deleted from the list automatically, so you can spin repeatedly until the wheel is empty and everybody has gone exactly once. Leave it off when you want an ordinary repeated draw, like picking a lunch spot where yesterday's answer is still allowed.

Pair it with a timer

Spinning decides who goes; timing decides how long they get. Once the wheel picks a name, start the stopwatch to record their attempt, or set the countdown timer so every turn is the same length. For groups rather than individuals, the random name picker can split a whole roster into even teams in one click.
