Whack-a-Mole

Thirty seconds on the clock. Tap each mole before it drops back into its hole, and try to beat the high score saved on your device.

A reflex game with a real clock

Every round is exactly thirty seconds, timed by the same engine that runs the TimerHubs stopwatch, so scores are comparable from one attempt to the next. Moles stay visible for between half a second and a second, which is short enough to punish hesitation but long enough that the game rewards attention rather than luck. Missed moles are tracked separately, because a high score with twenty misses is a very different performance from the same score with three.

Why it is harder than it looks

The game trains visual search under time pressure: your eyes have to scan nine positions, spot a change, and drive a hand to it before it vanishes. Most people plateau around the mid-twenties and improve by changing strategy rather than moving faster — keeping your gaze near the centre of the grid and using peripheral vision beats darting your eyes from hole to hole. If you want to see the underlying reflex on its own, without the searching, try the reaction speed test.

Good for brain breaks

Thirty seconds is short enough to run between lessons, between sets at the gym, or between focus blocks without derailing anything. Teachers use it as a transition signal: one round, everyone resets, back to work. Coaches use it as a warm-up for hand-eye coordination before drills. Because it works on touchscreens, a tablet passed around a group works as well as a mouse.

Free and private

No account, no download, no ads inside the play area. Your high score is stored in your own browser and nothing about your play is sent anywhere. When the break is over, the visual timer brings a room back quietly, and the Fun & Games hub has the rest of the pickers and games.
